ABOUT US

What is Global Pulse?

AMSA's Global Pulse Journal was launched in 2005, envisioned as a professional-quality publication for medical students, run entirely by medical students. We are an open-access, ISSN-registered, peer-reviewed publication. Our goal is to discuss challenging, cutting-edge subjects in global health, defined to include the following areas:

  • Global health inequality
  • International public health policy
  • Domestic health disparities
  • Human rights and justice in health
  • Cultural barriers in medical practice

The Global Pulse provides a space for aspiring doctors and health professionals to share insights, present original research, debate controversial topics, and explore eye-opening experiences through creative writing and visual media. Since its inception, Global Pulse has become one of AMSA's most widely known projects, with a readership that includes students, activists, doctors, and other health professionals around the world.

We strive to use up-to-date publishing standards and technology, collaborate with other AMSA projects and institutions who share our values, and incorporate social networking media. We encourage our readers to become part of our community by writing for our next issue, commenting on our blog, discussing topics on our Facebook page, following our Twitter account, and contacting us with questions.

The Global Pulse is committed to AMSA's core values of promoting the highest attainable quality of health care for our patients, both domestic and foreign; striving towards global health equity; increasing diversity in medicine; and supporting the integrity, professional development, and well-being of young medical professionals. It is guided by the philosophy of respect for human rights in health.
